Advocates for Aging was founded by two passionate individuals, a Licensed Nurse and a Master of Social Work, committed to delivering compassionate, comprehensive, and client-centric care to older adults. 

Whether we are working with vibrant older adults that need a little help or those going through their end-of-life journey, we want our clients and families to feel heard, seen, and cared for with dignity above all. We have seen in our careers the power of working with professionals from diverse backgrounds and expertise to find creative solutions that address our clients individual needs. Recognizing the value of a collaborative approach to Care Management, we have teamed up and combined our specialized expertise to provide our clients a more holistic and client centered service.  Antoinette and Kamilla’s vision is to deliver care management services that honor our clients’ views, wishes and values.

Antoinette Painter

Geriatric Care Manager

Antoinette Painter is a California Licensed Vocational Nurse by trade and has worked in the aging field in different capacities for over 20 years. She has experience working as a LVN in different medical settings such as hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, hospice, and summer camps for children with disabilities.

Her work as a hospice community liaison, an assisted living administrator, a family ambassador for a memory care community, and a placement agent in San Gabriel Valley, supported her in developing strong professional relationships and partnerships with industry leaders in San Gabriel Valley. In addition to the high level of industry knowledge in patient advocacy, customer service, senior housing, hospice services, and medical services, Antoinette is also a Dementia Care Specialist developing caregiver training program and ongoing caregiver support and education. In her work as a Geriatric Care Manager, she brings a compassionate approach with innovative solutions to meet her clients’ needs while striving to maintain their safety, independence and autonomy.

Kamilla Tien, MSW, CMC

Geriatric Care Manager

Prior to moving to Southern California, Kamilla spent 15 years living in the Bay Area, where she received her Master of Social Welfare with a concentration in Aging as wells as her Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Social Welfare at the University of California, Berkeley. She is a Certified Care Manager (CMC) through the NAACM, a member of the Aging Life Care Association (ALCA), and upholds both the ALCA Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice and the Social Work Code of Ethics to its highest standard.

She has extensive experience working within different medical models, with clients with complex medical, mental and social issues and vast knowledge of community resources. Her work with low-income older adults equipped her with ample knowledge of social programs and cost-effective resources with the goal of optimizing their quality of life, while preserving their independence. As a medical social worker, Kamilla aided in the implementation of innovative programs to improve access and continuum of care to reduce recidivism and emergency visits for a cultural and socio-economic diverse population. Acting as the Director of Resident & Family Services at a memory care community, she provided direct supportive services to residents and their families, guiding and educating them through the different stages and challenges of the disease.

As a Geriatric Care Manager, Kamilla is able to pull from her diverse professional experience and work in collaboration with her clients and families to provide them with compassionate and creative solutions that focuses on providing her clients the best possible quality of life while honoring their autonomy, dignity and values.
